Dear Athletes and Parents/Guardians: 

Welcome and Congratulations on making the 7th/8th Grade Volleyball here at John Page Middle School! We look forward to working with each one of you to create an exciting and challenging season. A successful season requires dedication, cooperation, and teamwork from all parties involved in the program including athletes, parents, and coaches. Our goal is to inspire and help individuals grow academically and athletically. This letter expresses our expectations. 

Attendance 

• Attendance at practices is mandatory. Students have the schedule/calendar and should be at every practice/game. Practice attendance is one of the most important ingredients to a successful TEAM. An absence is only acceptable when: 
  • Absent from school
  • Family emergency
  • Medical/Dental Appointment with at least one week’s notice. 
• You must communicate with a coach if you know you plan to be absent from a practice/ game. A 48 hours notice is highly encouraged.
• Missing practice is subject to loss of playing time and will be made up before, during, or after practice.

Attitude

• ZERO TOLERANCE FOR BULLYING. If a student is found bullying another child, they will be asked to return their jersey and no longer be on the team. 
• Come ready to learn and grow as a person and athlete. Remember the power of YET! 
• Show good sportsmanship! That means good manners and extending common courtesy to all athletes, coaches, officials, parents, and fans regardless of which team they represent. 
• Use the equipment lent to the Athlete by John Page Middle School properly and appropriately and will return this equipment in good working order. 
• Parents- please continue to be a positive role model for your children.

Academics 

• Your primary reason for attending Page Middle School is to receive an education. Participation in a sport is a privilege of academic success. All student-athletes must be passing all classes in order to be eligible for athletics.

Practices 

• Work hard, playtime is not given it is earned. 
• Please arrive at all practices on time. Come dressed and ready to play. 
• Please arrive on time to pick up your child for after-school practices or games.
• Continuously missed practices will affect your playing time on game days. 

Games 

• ONE-WAY Bus departs from Page - players must get a ride home (unless otherwise told). 
• After games, families are not allowed in the locker room at games or practices. They are to wait for their child outside unless escorted in by a coach. 
• All athletes are to sit with their teams while at a game.

Playing Time 

• All athletes will be given a fair chance to earn playing time during practice.
• Parents are not allowed to approach a coach during a game or practice to discuss playing time.
• An athlete may schedule a meeting to talk with the coach about any concerns.

Conflicts/ Concerns 

If an athlete or a parent has a concern, issue, or anything that needs to be addressed, they will follow this protocol: 

1st: The athlete will schedule a meeting with the coach to discuss concerns. 

2nd: If the issue is not resolved then the player, parent, and coach will meet. 

3rd: If further resolution is needed, then the coach will schedule a meeting with an administrator, the coach, the player, and the parent.
