Athletic Expectations and Standards

Academic Policy and Code of Conduct

We see the Five C's

At John Page Middle School, Character and Class is expected in the Classroom, in Competition, and in the Community. Your talents should extend beyond the playing field or arena, and all athletes should strive to conduct the most positive representation of themselves in all three “C” areas mentioned above.

Grades

Our school policy on academic eligibility states that student athletes must be passing FIVE (of their six) classes in order to be eligible for weekly game day participation. Student-athletes that fall below the academic threshold will be able to practice, but cannot participate in official games/meets/events until they are once again passing FIVE (5) or more classes.

Please also understand that while we want to continue to teach these student athletes the values of responsibility and accountability, athletics offer them so many valuable benefits, including (but not limited to): health, time management, conflict resolution, perseverance, managing success and overcoming adversity, healthy competition, increased social skills and self-esteem, etc.

We want to work with our student athletes to help them have every opportunity to play the sport they are passionate about, but with privilege comes responsibility. Page student athletes are expected to maintain positive character traits in and out of the class.

Locker Room Use

During your sports season, it is important to be aware of your equipment and that you are responsible for your equipment- both, your own and the equipment that has been loaned to you by the school/district.

The best safeguard for this is to lock your stuff up in a locker WITH a secured LOCK. If any athlete needs a lock, we can provide one, but any athlete that does NOT lock up their stuff does so at their own risk.

We recognize that some equipment may not fit in the given space, so please talk to your coach, Mr. Charron, or Mr. Chapman regarding the safe storage of your needed equipment.

We must respect ALL people in the locker room area. For privacy reasons, cell phone use in the locker rooms is prohibited. Inappropriate physical activity (horseplay, rough-housing, etc.) is also not allowed. Please also understand that any vandalism, theft, or misconduct in the locker room is subject to disciplinary action, including dismissal from the team.

Let us also respect the cleanliness and physical integrity of the locker room. Clean up after yourself and use the facilities responsibly and appropriately.

Equipment Use

We will follow the district athletic use policy, as shown below:

Students are responsible for all equipment issued to them. Uniforms are supplied for the sole purpose of athletic participation. When the season is completed all equipment and uniforms must be returned. There are no exceptions to this policy. All equipment must be returned within one week after the final contest for that sport. A student will be charged full replacement costs for any lost or damaged equipment or uniforms regardless of its age or condition. Any student that does not turn in any Lamphere High School property (ex: uniforms) will be ineligible to participate in another sport until all property is paid for or returned. For senior athletes, failure to return property and/or refund the cost of the item(s) may result in losing commencement privileges.

It is the responsibility of the student-athlete to keep track of this and to communicate any issues or concerns with family and/or coaches. If you have any specific questions or concerns, please contact your coach.
