Page Panthers Defeat Warren Woods Middle School 36 - 0
The Page Panthers took a short bus ride to Lamphere High School, where they hosted the Wolverines of Warren Woods Middle School.
With summer in the rearview mirror and kickoff temperatures at a chilly 50 degrees under gray skies, the Panthers delivered a dominant football performance, winning 36-0. This marks the Panthers’ third defensive shutout in four games. The Panthers improved their record to 3 - 1.
The Panthers were led by Team game captains Tracen Lampinen, Kaleb Austin, Parker Honkanen, and Cooper Bradley.
The game started with a spark as Maykil Najeeb returned the opening kickoff 65 yards for a touchdown, with excellent blocking from the special teams unit. Jahir Edwards added the two-point conversion, setting the tone for the rest of the game. Jahir Edwards had an outstanding day, finishing with three rushing touchdowns. His first was an 8-yard sweep to the outside, followed by a remarkable 80-yard jet sweep, thanks to key blocks from running backs Adrien Felton, Kaleb Austin, and wide receivers Tracen Lampinen and Max Tozer. Just before halftime, Jahir Edward’s broke free for a 65-yard touchdown, with Maykil Najeeb again converting the two-point attempt.
The Panthers kept the momentum going in the second half with a trick play—a double pass. Karter Hayden threw to Adrien Felton, who connected with Tracen Lampinen in the end zone for a 35-yard touchdown. The offense, led by quarterbacks Karter Hayden and Brycen Potter, clicked on all cylinders, supported by a standout performance from the offensive line—Michael Farmer, Anthony Strunk, Jonah Riddle, Brock Dively, and Cooper Bradley.
On defense, middle linebacker Adrien Felton anchored a unit that was constantly in the Wolverines backfield, causing disruptions. Defensive linemen Roman Godboldo, Maykil Najeeb, Joseph McColor, along with subs Mayar Alsaba and Matthew Gilmartin,
controlled the line of scrimmage throughout the game. A key interception by Brycen Potter helped set up another touchdown right before the half, adding to the Panthers’ commanding lead. Late in the second half, the Panthers’ punt team sealed the victory by recovering a mishandled punt by the Wolverines.
The Panthers would like to extend a special thanks to all the fans, parents, and the incredible Panther Cheerleaders for braving the fall weather to support the team. Congratulations to the Page Cheer team for an excellent halftime performance.
Special thanks also to Mr. Tony Austin for announcing the game and to Mr. Jeff Oltersdorf for running the clock.
Great job, Panthers! On to the next victory!
The Panthers’ next game will be an away matchup against Clawson Middle School. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, October 23rd, with kickoff at 6:30 p.m.
