Thomas Griffith.

Asst. Coach

Biography:

Name: Thomas Griffith

Years I’ve been coaching this sport: 3 years

Playing experience: 3 years Varsity Football and 3 years of College Football at Adrian College.

I coach because… I love the game and I want to share my passion with these athletes, hoping they enjoy it in a similar way. Also to help them feel like they belong and to teach life lessons.

My overall coaching philosophy: As a coach for the middle school football team, my philosophy is centered around creating a positive and supportive environment for all players. I believe that coaching goes beyond just teaching the X's and O's of the game, but also instilling important life lessons and values in young athletes. One of the key aspects of my coaching philosophy is the emphasis on teamwork and sportsmanship. I believe that success on the field is not only determined by individual talent, but by the ability of the team to work together towards a common goal. I emphasize the importance of communication, respect, and supporting one another both on and off the field. I encourage players to celebrate each other's successes and lift each other up during challenging times. In addition to teamwork, I also prioritize individual growth and development. I believe that each player has their own unique talents and potential, and it is m! job as a coach to help them reach their full capabilities. I provide personalized coaching and feedback to each player, and I work with them to set specific goals for improvement. I believe in pushing players out of their comfort zones in order to help them grow both as athletes and as individuals. Furthermore, I believe in creating a fun and inclusive environment for all players. I want every player on the team to feel valued and supported, regardless of their skill level or experience. I strive to create a positive and encouraging atmosphere where players feel motivated to improve and push themselves to be the best they can be.

I coach because… I coach middle school football because I believe in the power of sports to teach valuable life lessons.  It’s rewarding to help young student-athletes develop their skills, build confidence, and learn the importance of teamwork and perseverance.  Witnessing their growth and being a positive influence in their lives motivates me everyday!

My overall coaching philosophy: My middle school football coaching philosophy will emphasize development, education, and enjoyment.

Here are the key elements:

1. **Skill Development**: Focus on teaching fundamental skills and techniques. Ensure that each player learns the basics of football, including safety practices.

2. **Teamwork and Sportsmanship**: Promote teamwork, cooperation, and respect among players. Emphasize the importance of sportsmanship both on and off the field.

3. **Positive Environment**: Create an encouraging and positive atmosphere. Support players’ efforts and improvement, and celebrate their successes.

4. **Physical Fitness and Health**: Highlight the importance of physical fitness and healthy habits. Ensure that practices include exercises that improve strength, agility, and overall fitness.

5. **Inclusive Participation**: Ensure that all players get the opportunity to participate and develop. Rotate positions and give everyone a chance to play.

6. **Educational Focus**: Balance football with academics. Encourage players to maintain good grades and develop time management skills.

7. **Life Skills**: Use football to teach valuable life skills such as discipline, responsibility, perseverance, and leadership.

8. **Safety First**: Prioritize player safety by teaching proper techniques and using appropriate equipment. Stay informed about concussion protocols and injury prevention.

By following these principles, we (football coaches) can create a supportive and enriching environment that helps young athletes grow both on and off the field.
